The Full Story

I’m Sheila Coleman a native of Chesterfield County, Virginia where I graduated from Monacan High School. I attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where I received my B. A from the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, with a major in Political Science and a minor in International Relations.

Growing up in a real estate home my Mother Carol Bynum is the founding Principal Broker of VA Choice Real Estate. I received my Real Estate license in April 2003. I began my real estate career working in a real estate office as the office assistant and transaction coordinator. I expanded my real estate experience into construction and founded J.C. Bynum Construction a Class A construction company headquartered in Chesterfield County, Virginia. In February 2017 Virginia’s Governor, Terry McAuliffe appointed me to the Virginia Board for Contractors. On February 28th, 2017 I was sworn in as the first African American woman to hold a position on the Board.

I’ve been a very vocal advocate for affordable housing. My passion for sustainable communities and affordable housing led me to Petersburg, Virginia. I’ve partnered with the City of Petersburg on a revitalization project where we’re building affordable housing. We’ve partnered with several grant programs to give buyers access to grant funding to assist with their down payment and closing cost.

I’m passionate about real estate and I love what I do.

I look forward to assisting you with your real estate needs.
